As part of its sustained growth, Gaming1 is looking for a Freelance AI & Automation Digital Transformation Lead to join its IT team.
This role is essential for Gaming1 to autonomously leverage emerging technologies, rapidly improve operational efficiencies, ensure compliance with evolving regulations, and maintain a competitive advantage through innovation, proactive opportunity identification, and effective risk management.
YOUR ROLE
The AI & Automation Digital Transformation Lead drives the adoption of AI and automation across Gaming1’s corporate functions (Finance, Legal, HR, Compliance) with possible expansion to retail operations. The role focuses on selecting and implementing third-party AI solutions (Buy strategy), ensuring business value, compliance, and risk management.
As a trusted advisor, the Lead identifies opportunities, evaluates market solutions, leads deployment, and embeds best practices with business leaders and tech teams. They also lead Gaming1’s AI governance task force to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with departments to prioritize AI initiatives that improve efficiency and innovation
- Lead “Buy vs Make” evaluations, recommending solutions based on feasibility, cost, and compliance
- Manage AI projects end-to-end, including vendor evaluation, business cases (ROI, risk), and deployment
- Develop governance frameworks with Compliance and Legal, ensuring ethical AI use and regulatory compliance (GDPR, EU AI Act, AML/CFT)
- Optimize processes using BPMN, Lean, and Six Sigma, and identify quick wins for transformation
- Facilitate communication between business, IT, and vendors, delivering training to support adoption
- Lead vendor selection and maintain partnerships, collaborating with Techno for integration and expertise sharing
YOUR PROFILE
- Master’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field. Certifications in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile), AI, BPMN, Lean, or Six Sigma are a plus
- 15+ years’ experience with exposure to AI, automation, or process optimisation in complex, fast-paced organisations, including entrepreneurial environments
- Strong knowledge of AI and automation technologies, market trends, and vendors, particularly in corporate functions (Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance). Familiar with Generative AI (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude), enterprise platforms, and custom AI solutions
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, propose pragmatic solutions, and drive innovation while balancing risk and alignment with company objectives
- Proven ability to build business cases, evaluate ROI and TCO, conduct DPIAs, and lead risk assessments, with solid knowledge of GDPR, EU AI Act, IP, and compliance frameworks
- Strong leadership skills with experience influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams, driving change, and securing adoption of new technologies and processes
- Excellent analytical skills with clear, impactful communication tailored to diverse audiences
- Strong organisational abilities with capacity to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring quality and timely delivery
- Highly adaptable, proactive, quick learner with resilience to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Full professional proficiency in English (C2); additional EU languages (French, Dutch, Spanish) are an asset
