As part of its sustained growth, Gaming1 is looking for a Frontend Engineer to drive technical SEO and web performance improvements across our React-based Single Page Application. Your work will directly impact how users and search engines experience our platform — from indexability to fast load times and semantic correctness.

You’ll join the Acquisition and Interaction frontend team that works across the stack to solve visibility, rendering, and performance challenges. Your mission is to bridge the gap between engineering, marketing, and SEO by shaping our platform to be not only functional but also fast, discoverable, and accessible. You’ll be promoting this mindset across different teams in our organisation.

THE ROLE

• Own and implement SEO-critical features such as canonical tags, sitemaps
• Build performant, semantic, and accessible UIs using React, TypeScript, and CSS-in-JS
• Diagnose and solve indexing and crawlability issues, working with tools like Search Console, Lighthouse, Semrush, Prerender
• Optimize for Core Web Vitals and frontend performance metrics (LCP, CLS, INP)
• Optimize loading strategies, lazy-load assets and components
• Work in a monorepo environment with shared tooling and CI/CD flows
• Contribute to internal tools and documentation (e.g., Storybook)

YOUR PROFILE

Core Front-End Skills

• Strong JavaScript & TypeScript knowledge (ES6+, types, generics, inference)
• Solid React experience (hooks, function components, React Router, Redux/RTK Query)
• Ability to optimize React performance and manage head content
• Mastery of semantic HTML, accessibility best practices, and responsive design
• Familiarity with CSS-in-JS solutions

SEO-Specific Expertise

• Strong grasp of SEO fundamentals: indexability, crawlability, canonical tags, sitemaps
• Familiarity with prerendering techniques in SPAs
• Familiar with Googlebot behavior and debugging bot-related issues (robots.txt, meta directives)

Performance & Web Vitals

• Deep understanding of Core Web Vitals and frontend performance metrics
• Experience with lazy loading, code splitting, and hydration strategies
• Ability to audit and reduce impact of third-party scripts

Tooling & Ecosystem

• Experience in monorepo setups and CI/CD pipelines
• Comfortable with Git workflows and collaborative development
• Exposure to component documentation tools like Storybook

Soft Skills

• High level of autonomy and ownership across frontend SEO work
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders (e.g. SEO Experts)
• Ability to connect frontend implementation with marketing goals
• Results-oriented mindset with focus on measuring impact (CTR, rankings, impressions)
• Be a team player
